TTG #47 (w/ art by TT director Michael Chang) out tomorrow Posted by Butch on September 25, 2007 @ 11:48 pm EST - Link
"Teen Titans Go!" #47 will be hitting stores tomorrow, Wednesday. It's another "2 stories in 1 issue" book, and is the last to round out the main five's TTG-styled origins (with Robin's backstory). Most notable to animated Titans fans is it features a story drawn by one of the Teen Titans series directors, Michael Chang!
Description: Finally, the origin of Robin can be told! Plus, witness a day in the lives of Starfire and Raven. Which one of them will stop Gizmo's latest crime spree?
Michael had put up a sneak peek from the art he's done for his 10-page story. The other story in issue #47 is by guest artist Christine Norrie. With Michael's art in TTG, this will be the closest we'll get to seeing the "on model" Titans from the show in action once again. Be sure to pick up your copy! (then head to our TTG #47 review thread to discuss the issue)!
Update: TTG writer J. Torres put up a few comments regarding this issue on his blog:
"The first story in this issue is illustrated by Michael Chang, animator extraordinare whose credits include Men in Black, Jackie Chan Adventures, and of course the Teen Titans animated series. Look for a quick cameo by a certain Dark Knight in "Regarding Robin" as well as what some fans would call "fluff" between... welll, you'll see!
Meanwhile, the lovely and talented Christine Norrie draws the second half of the issue which features a Starfire and Raven slice-of-life type story that keen-eyed New Teen Titans fans will realize was inspired by Wolfman and Perez's 'A Day in the Lives.' "
TT Season 5 interview (also: TTG hits #50!; TT crew quilt art & more) Posted by Butch on September 20, 2007 @ 11:51 pm EST - Link
Thanks to some technical difficulties, this update was delayed a few days. Nonetheless, lots of nice news!
TitansTower.com conducted a very extensive interview on Teen Titans Season 5 with TT producer and story editors David Slack, Rob Hoegee, and Amy Wolfram. Topics discussed include the team's overall direction for the season, introducing the Doom Patrol and Season 5's new Titans, putting together major episodes ("Go!", "Things Change", etc.) and...who was that blonde schoolgirl?
Amy also gives more details on the Season 6 that never was: "Yep, it would be called New Teen Titans. I worked on it over the summer. It was really cool! [laughs] And it builds on what we established in season five. It was really going farther and farther with some things we were developing. And plus, now, after this season we had so many characters to explore and to work with. So that would have been a lot of fun. Glen and I did a mini-bible for it, and we had about 24 main characters in it. We had our Titans, plus Titans East, and the new ones we had brought in for the two-parter."
All that and more await, so click here for the full interview. The writing trio also adds that, as always, future Titans projects are always possible if the DVDs get high enough sales. Support the Titans by buying the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD and season sets!
It didn't seem like it'd happen, but that glorious day is finally in view: "Teen Titans Go!" is set for its big 50th issue this December! TTG #50 will arrive in stores on December 26th according to DC Comics' latest solicits, and it looks like one heck of an issue:
Description: The Titans hit the big 5-0! When Robin's out of commission, it's up to the rest of the team to gather everyone and anyone who's ever been a Titan to help save the day!
TTG #50's cover art appears to feature exactly that, with almost every single Titan from the show and TTG series included (including Terra in costume!). TTG writer J. Torres comments on ComicBloc that Terra won't actually be in the story, but adds that Terra fans should keep an eye out for issue #51...
For now, fans of the series can rejoice. Under the ever-looming threat of cancellation, TTG has managed to hit its largest milestone yet. A big congratulations to the TTG crew for an awesome run, and here's to many issues more! How long the series survives is still up to the fans, so keep picking up "Teen Titans Go!" and showing your support.
Teen Titans character designer Brianne Drouhard added an awesome "Super-D" Cheshire design to her blog, which will end up as a pattern block for a larger quilt. The quilt is being put together by TT story editor Amy Wolfram, holding the theme of superheroes. With Brianne's sweet looking Cheshire in the mix, that's going to end up being one incredible quilt!

DC's word on status of "Teen Titans Go!" (also: animated Titans reunited & more) Posted by Butch on September 12, 2007 @ 11:54 pm EST - Link
At last, a more definite answer regarding the status of "Teen Titans Go!". During the DC Universe panel at last week's Baltimore Comic Con, DC's Dan Didio fielded questions from the audience. One question was for show-based comics "Teen Titans Go!" and JLU:
Question: Are Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans Go gone because of the new kids line for Johnny DC?
Didio: "JLU will run to the middle of next year at least. If sales support the number of kids books out there, we'll keep them out there. Those books were built to support television series that are no longer creating new material."
(Didio adds that the show-based "Legion" comic will continue since the series is still going on)
So there you have it (even if it was no surprise): the official answer to keeping the comic series alive is to buy the "Teen Titans Go!" comics. Sadly, JLU was the one title actually confirmed for cancellation at this year's Wizard World Chicago con, but according to Didio, it still has more than half a year's worth of issues left. Because of this, it's assumed that "Teen Titans Go!" has more issues beyond that left before cancellation will be a serious consideration. How long TTG lasts past that point will be up to the fans.

The classic and animated "The New Teen Titans" team is together again! Well, minus Flash, who's tied up in current crossover events. Following DC's latest solicited Teen Titans East Special (out November 14th), Newsarama reports that Marv Wolfman and George Perez' co-created Titans (plus Nightwing and Donna Troy) will have their own ongoing series. The new series will start where the special one-shot book leaves off. Nightwing, Starfire, Donna, Cyborg, Raven, and Beast Boy will be reunited as one team again for the first time in years.
This new Titans series will begin a few months after the "Teen Titans East Special" is out, with the writer likely being Judd Winick (who also wrote the special).
In other Titan news, the very first issue of TTG writer J. Torres' "Wonder Girl" arrived in stores today! It's #1 of a 6-issue mini-series, and features stunning cover and interior art from TTG guest artist Sanford Greene. The first page even includes Young Justice (minus Bart/"Impulse"...pity the Flash family). How cool is that? This mini-series will take Wonder Girl (Cassie) on a journey following DC's "Amazons Attack" crossover event.
If you aren't convinced yet, J has put a bunch of sneak peeks up on his ComicSpace page for this issue, including Sanford's character designs, covers for the mini-series, and a nice five-page preview. Check out Sanford's awesome take on early Cassie. With Wonder Girl having been plagued by drama, heartbreak, and war, it's very refreshing to see her stretch out on her own now, courtesy of J. Torres and Sanford Greene. Be sure to pick up your copy.
Tiny Titans update & character art preview; DC comments Posted by Butch on September 9, 2007 @ 2:07 am EST - Link
Newsarama has a bunch of art previews for upcoming DC kids title "Tiny Titans", as provided by DC Comics. Among the designs and "character situations" are BB in both classic and contemporary costume flavors, Speedy with trick arrows (and he's drawing red arrows...get it?), and even Barbara Gordon as Batgirl. Check out the adorable Miss Martian and her shape-shifting arm.
Along with the new art are words from DC editor Jann Jones, on what she looked for in a kids title, and how she saw the current Johnny DC line. That latter bit concerns the "Teen Titans Go!" series, as Jann states:
"When I moved into the role of Coordinating Editor and started doing the sign off on the kids’ books of the Johnny DC line, I saw that they were really good, solid books, but I didn’t feel like I could give them to a four year old or a five year old, or just any kid in general. Despite their connection to the animated projects, they were still dealing with the more serious issues – cases where if the heroes don’t save the day, it’s implied, or shown that people will die. I think that’s kind of heavy to put on a younger audience."
With no new official word on the status of "Teen Titans Go!" beyond the "it's not cancelled" reaction statement from the Wizard World Chicago con, fans can take that as they will. Click here for the full article, and for the new "Tiny Titans" preview art.
