"Tokyo" re-airs Saturday (and: TTG art, news & DVD Give-away deadline passed)
Posted by Butch on September 29, 2006 @ 10:17 pm EST - Link

Cartoon Network is re-airing "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" this weekend! The movie will show on Saturday, September 30th at 12:00 PM noon, EST/PST. It's scheduled right after episode "Mad Mod" at 11:30 AM, for a nice 2 hour-ish Teen Titans segment. If you still haven't seen it, don't miss it this time! Especially since according to ToonZone, the DVD no longer has a definite release date (again).

The deadline for our Teen Titans "The Complete Second Season" DVD Give-away has passed, and we'll now begin choosing our top three picks. We loved seeing all the great stuff you all sent in, and it's going to be another hard choice picking just three winners. When we announce them here, we'll also put up a full image gallery of every entry we've received, so stay tuned. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Comic artist Sanford Greene has put up several of his finished "Teen Titans Go!" comic pages (sans lettering and dialogue) in his gallery, which will be seen in his upcoming TTG issue. He's got a pretty awesome coloring style, and his drawings have a nice flow of action. Click the link to see his four pages (the last 4 in the gallery), which feature Thunder & Lightning getting ambushed by Professor Chang and his soldiers. Thanks to Tekneko for the tip!

From JTorresOnline comes another "Teen Titans Go!" site exclusive: pencilled TTG #15 comic pages from the comic series' main interior artist, Todd Nauck! These were done for the issue's "Pop Quiz" story, which introduced Kwiz Kid as an all-new villain for TTG, as well as cameos from Kitten (who happened to be Kwiz Kid's ex-girlfriend) and Killer Moth. Click the link to check those original pencilled pages out.

DVD Give-away extended (and: Legion artwork from the Titans crew!)
Posted by Butch on September 25, 2006 @ 10:40 pm EST - Link

Due to the server move earlier today, we've decided to extend our Teen Titans "The Complete Second Season" DVD Give-away for three days, to give those who may have been affected a chance to resend their entries. So in short, the DVD Give-away's deadline is now September 28th. Our apologies to those whose emails were disrupted by the move. If you sent your fan-art entry between last midnight and noon today, please feel free to resend it. Of course, any latecomers to the Give-away are welcome to send us their entries too.

For details and how to enter this DVD Give-away, click here.

Now that "Legion" has aired, Teen Titans character designer Derrick Wyatt's put up an awesome series of aliens he designed for civilians of New Metropolis. The last four on the right should be familiar to Green Lantern fans (including Lantern Tomar Re's species), as well as a Legionized take on what seems to be Futurama's Dr. Zoidberg.

Let Derrick know what you think of his work, as well your thoughts on Legion's first episode (which aired Saturday). And if you saw it, join in on our "Man of Tomorrow" discussion!

Teen Titans director Ben Jones offers more Legion art on his blog, including this sketch of the Fatal Five's Validus. Be sure to leave him your thoughts on it and the Legion's first episode outing.

Also, if you scroll down his blog some, you'll notice Ben updated an old post with fuller animation tests for the show, featuring several members of the Legion in action:
- "Legion" animation tests (videoclips)

(note: since "Legion of Super Heroes" has premiered, TitansGo.net will now discontinue updates for it, with the exceptions of Legion news directly related to the Teen Titans crew)

TGN Maintenance for 9/25 [Finished]
Posted by Forau on September 24, 2006 @ 8:27 am EST - Link

Our website host Hytek has informed us that they will be moving us to a new server in the early morning of Monday, September 25, 2006 between the hours of 12:00AM and 9:00AM EST. This will most likely result in some downtime for all sections of TGN. We will also be getting a new IP, which might take a while to be processed by every users ISP. This might result in people not being able to reach TGN for several hours after the move. This is not something that we can control or help go faster. Just be patient if this happens. If you still cannot reach TitansGo.net by Tuesday morning, please send an email to Ixnay or myself detailing what's going wrong.

To make sure that no posts or drawings will be lost during the move, we will be temporarily shutting down our forums and oekaki about 10-15 minutes before the move is scheduled. We will open them up to everybody again after we've made sure that everything is okay and working.

Edit: The move has been finished, and everything seems to be in working order. If you find anything wrong with the website, oekakis or forums, please don't hesitate to contact myself or Ixnay via our contact page.

"Legion" & "The Batman" Season 4 premiering Tomorrow!
Posted by Butch on September 23, 2006 @ 12:52 am EST - Link

"Legion of Super Heroes" (which several of the Titans crew worked on) premieres tomorrow with "Man of Tomorrow", wherein Clark Kent/Superman meets and joins the Legion's ranks to help them combat their nemesis the Fatal Five.

Composers Dynamic Music Partners sent us a press release for the premiere: "The underscore, composed by LOLITA RITMANIS, MICHAEL McCUISTION and KRISTOPHER CARTER airs Saturday mornings from 10:00 - 10:30 AM on the new CW Network [Kids' WB block]. The main theme, composed by KRISTOPHER CARTER was recorded at Paramount Stage "M" by some of the top studio musicians in Los Angeles. You can find out more about Dynamic Music Partners at www.dynamicmusicpartners.com"

Also starting tomorrow is the much awaited Season 4 of "The Batman". It's set up to be an absolute free-for-all of new characters and comic-influenced storylines that will excite any Bat-fan. New characters Robin, Harley Quinn, Martian Manhunter and more, anyone? How about Nightwing, Oracle (an anticipated DCAU first!), "Dark Knight Returns"-styled Batman, and a future setting taking off mid-season, to add even more to the mix? All that and more'll play a part in this 4th (hopefully not last) season. It begins with "A Matter of Family" at 10:30 AM PST/EST on Kids' WB (right after "Legion"), which introduces Robin/Dick Grayson to the Bat-family. For fans, some notes of interest in this episode: in a very nice nod, Kevin Conroy (longtime voice of Batman in the DCAU) will voice Robin's father, with Mark Hamill (DCAU's Joker VA) voicing Zucco (Robin's parents' killer). Also, Teen Titans' very own Hynden Walch (Starfire) lends her voice as everybody's favorite Harley Quinn; we heard a great clip of her as Harley at Comic-Con, and can't wait for her role in "The Batman".

Again, both Legion's "Man of Tomorrow" and The Batman Season 4's "A Matter of Family" will air tomorrow at 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM respectively, with new episodes on Saturday each week. Tune in for the goodness!

More Legion: Comics Continuum's chats with Yuri Lowenthal (Superman) and Michael Cornacchia (Bouncing Boy).

Yuri (a comic book, Teen Titans, and JLU fan) discusses his character Superman's predicament in "Legion", how the team and the 31st century impact him to be the Superman he is "today", how the show compares to Teen Titans and JLU, Legion's casting process, and more. He also mentions he had a supporting voice role in Teen Titans' "Trouble in Tokyo" movie! Meanwhile, Michael talks about his character Bouncing Boy's role in "Legion", how he becomes much more than just comic relief, his past voice-over work, and more. Click below for the full sessions:

- Yuri Lowenthal (Superman) talks Legion
- Michael Cornacchia (Bouncing Boy) on Legion

In a last bit of Legion news, Legions of Gotham has an exclusive feature on the "Legion" logo design's development. Its designer, Frank Varela, provides several logo concepts leading up to its final version, and discusses the process behind developing it for WB, the purpose behind its look, and some other interesting notes. "Trouble in Tokyo" aftermath (feedback, Glen Murakami talks "Tokyo", and more)
Posted by Butch on September 16, 2006 @ 11:05 pm EST - Link

In just half an hour (7:30 PM), Pacific timezones will get their last chance to catch "Trouble in Tokyo" on CN for this week. Later airings for the movie have yet to be announced. For those who caught it yesterday and today, don't forget that we'll all get another "Tokyo" fix when the DVD hits stores on November 7th.

If you've seen the movie, come to our forums and join in on the "Trouble in Tokyo" discussions to talk with fellow fans about what may've been Teen Titans' last hurrah. To the Titans and the production crew, congrats on a great movie and animated series. You guys defied all expectations with an excellent show that will be sorely missed, and for that, we fans can't possibly thank you enough. Cheers!

Newsarama's posted an interview with Glen Murakami regarding "Trouble in Tokyo", in which the Teen Titans producer talks about how "Tokyo" came about, what its major influences are, how Brushogun was developed, Robin's transition of maturity in the movie, and much more.

"David Slack and I discussed the Titans video inbetween seasons 4 and 5," Murakami recalls, "but it wasn't green-lit until after season 5. David and I wanted to do a story big enough and different enough from the regular series to warrant being a video. I think I might have suggested Tokyo just because the series was so influenced by anime. It seemed like a natural progression to take them to Tokyo."

For the full interview feature, click here. A very interesting read, check it out!

Teen Titans director Ben Jones adds to his blog a Cyborg doodle he did on a "Trouble in Tokyo" script, as a little memoire of the movie's production. He also adds that if you miss both "Tokyo" airings this week, you get another chance with the DVD's November 7th release. You heard the man. Feel free to leave Ben your thoughts on the movie!

"Tokyo" premiering tomorrow! (last countdown: news & "Tokyo" DVD update)
Posted by Butch on September 14, 2006 @ 11:58 pm EST - Link

Today's the last of our "Trouble in Tokyo" countdown, we hope you enjoyed the little previews and looks that serve as just a sample of what's to come tomorrow night (7:30 PM, Eastern/Pacific!). We don't have new production art to add tonight, but we do have "news". As many know, WB reps and even the Teen Titans crew have stated that the success of "Tokyo" could lead to more direct-to-video movie releases for the Titans. Turns out they weren't just blowing hot air.

We'd been told by a source close to production that there's been definite discussion for a next Teen Titans movie. We absolutely cannot reveal anything about its plot, but it'd be safe to say that if you think the "Trouble in Tokyo" movie is great, the stuff planned for the possible next one will absolutely blow your socks off (at least in our humble opinion) and will feature things fans have long clamored for, but never received. Keyword's "possible", as with most pitches, it may never even see the light of day. Whether or not we see it depends on how successful "Tokyo" is: both premiere airings this week, as well as the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD which we've confirmed with WB Online to be out for November 7th (not the 17th as previously reported).

Be sure to catch "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" starting tomorrow at 7:30 PM on Cartoon Network, and don't forget to tell all your friends (convert them if you have to)!

"Tokyo" approaches! Part 3 (also: CN.com puts up movie scene)
Posted by Butch on September 13, 2006 @ 9:54 pm EST - Link

We continue our "Trouble in Tokyo" countdown with several more production art designs. We've added four color compositions and sketches for one of the movie's more prominent vehicles, a new bike for Robin! Check them out in our Official Art gallery:

- Robin's Tokyo bike - color composition 1
- Robin's Tokyo bike - color composition 2
- Robin's Tokyo bike - front angle sketch
- Robin's Tokyo bike - rear angle sketch

These four incredible designs were created by Teen Titans prop artist Norm Ryang. Without spoiling much of "Tokyo", this sharp-looking motorcycle will be Robin's ride during a pivotal part of the movie's story (you may even see Robin without his mask! Pivotal enough?). It is similar in look to the R-Cycle, for which Akira was an influence; the scenes the Tokyo bike appears in seem to have an Akira slant too. Pure Robin fan candy. Only two days left until the "Trouble in Tokyo" premiere! Check here tomorrow for the last countdown update, as the movie looms ever closer.

CartoonNetwork.com has a teaser clip from "Trouble in Tokyo" up, featuring a scene of the Titans battling a rampaging Deka-Mido. It also shows an interesting connection between the monster and the mysterious agent Saico-Tek; fans of Japanese "tokusatsu" shows may likely notice another. Click here to check out the movie scene. Thanks to TitansGo.net forum member Homestar14 for the alert!

"Tokyo" approaches! Part 2 (also: "Tokyo" DVD in November, and Season 2 DVD out today!)
Posted by Butch on September 12, 2006 @ 10:57 pm EST - Link

Our countdown to the premiere of the "Trouble in Tokyo" movie continues. Here's another bright-eyed face from the movie's cast of characters, one everyone is already familiar with. Brushogun's brightly colored, hi-tech ninja has been added to our Official Art gallery:

- Saico-Tek - character model sheet

As in the movie's description, Saico-Tek was sent to wreak havok on Titans Tower, and eventually sets the Titans on a mission to uncover the mysterious Tokyo mastermind Brushogun. Fans of live-action Japanese superhero shows will no doubt recognize the major influences behind Saico-Tek's design, Kikaida and Kamen Rider. Three days left til "Tokyo" airs! Come back tomorrow as we countdown with more movie material.

According to ToonZone, Warner Home Video gave an updated release for the "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" DVD! It will be available on November 17th, as opposed to first reports of an October date. Here's hoping this date is a final one.

At last, the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD has been released! Click here to order the DVD and enjoy Season 2 in its full splendor. Every purchase made through us helps keep this site going, and does its bit to support the Titans!

(be sure to enter our current Teen Titans DVD Give-away for a chance to win a copy of the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD! This give-away ends September 25th.)

In between: TGNv2 and Opening Theme Download
Posted by Forau on September 12, 2006 @ 4:23 pm EST - Link

As you've all noticed by now, about a month ago the layout of TGN became quite different. It became wider, faster and more pleasant to browse on a daily basis. I've officially named it TGNv2 (TitansGo.net version 2) and, even though it's been online for the past month, I am happy to present it to everybody officially today. I hope you guys like it, but if there are any quirks or problems, please let me know on the forums.

And to make this update more than an announcement, I've also made available the Opening Theme (12.95 MB, avi, 71 seconds) as a RAR-compressed download. It features the entire opening animation, plus both the opening theme in English and Japanese. We recommend that you use Media Player Classic to view the video. Make sure you get the correct version for Windows 98 and ME, or for Windows 2000, XP and newer.

If your computer can't extract the video from the downloaded file, you'll have to get a program like WinRAR or 7-Zip. If after following these instructions the video still doesn't work, don't hesitate to make a nicely worded post in The Communicator on the forums to ask for help.

And for all the lawyers out there, the video is packaged with a readme file that you'll want to read first. To everybody else, enjoy the video and don't forget to tune in to "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" in 3 days on the 15th of September!

"Tokyo" approaches! Part 1 (movie premiere countdown)
Posted by Butch on September 11, 2006 @ 9:47 pm EST - Link

As promised, today we kick off our countdown to the TV debut of the Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" movie on Cartoon Network. To start off, we've added new production artwork to our Official Art gallery:

- Deka-Mido - character model sheet

Deka-Mido is the Godzilla-like, fire-breathing monster you've no doubt noticed in the "Trouble in Tokyo" trailer video. Without spoiling too much, we'll say that he's only the first unfriendly face the Titans meet when they initially arrive in Tokyo. As we reported in our first Comic-Con '06 update, Deka-Mido goes on a rampage and battles the Titans before being taken down by Tokyo's chief of police and his Troopers.

Four more days until the "Trouble in Tokyo" premiere! Our daily countdown continues tomorrow with more movie material, so be sure to come on back.

CN's "Tokyo" promo clip (also: Season 2 DVD & Titans GBA sequel out this week, and more)
Posted by Butch on September 10, 2006 @ 8:28 pm EST - Link

This week, Cartoon Network's been airing a video clip for "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo", with the Cartoon Fridays hosts announcing the premiere's date & time (again, Sept. 15th, 7:30 PM Eastern/Pacific on CN). The clip features a fight with Brushogun's hi-tech ninja, the Titans arriving in Tokyo and enjoying the sights, BB decked out in tourist clothes, and more.

We've recorded and put up the clip for your viewing pleasure, which you can download here:
- CN's "Trouble in Tokyo" promo clip (7.2 MB, mpg file, 28 sec.)

And to celebrate the movie's first airing, starting tomorrow TitansGo.net will kick off a special countdown with some bonus "Tokyo" material every day leading up to the premiere. So be sure to check back here each day, and get yourself ready for the movie's big debut! Catch "Trouble in Tokyo" on September 15th & 16th, at 7:30 PM for both days on Cartoon Network. Those calendars better be marked, "Tokyo" is almost upon us!

Coming out in two days is the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD, featuring the fan-favorite Terra & Beast Boy story-arc. We urge everyone to pre-order the DVD and/or buy it when it reaches stores. Not only because Season 2 is awesome, but also because huge support for Teen Titans merchandise (particularly the DVDs) paves the way for future Teen Titans projects. Who knows, perhaps even a show renewal!

Of course, don't forget about our current Teen Titans DVD Give-away, through which we're offering three lucky fans a copy of the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD! Click the link for details, and how to enter. This contest ends September 25th!

Last but not least, the "Teen Titans 2" Gameboy Advance sequel is out in two days as well. It features the Brotherhood of Evil as main villains, Titan-summoning, combo attacks, and more. If you haven't yet, pre-order the game and check out publisher Majesco's official page for this handheld sequel.

On a side note (no pun intended), take a look at our site's right side-bar. There's a new "Upcoming" dates feature, which tracks dates for Titans-related releases and events. Clicking it leads to a more detailed schedule for the month and beyond. We hope you find this new feature convenient!

Animated Titans in DC Comics continuity! (also: TTG #34 in stores, and more)
Posted by Butch on September 6, 2006 @ 11:23 pm EST - Link

If you're following DC's "Teen Titans" series (written by Geoff Johns), you'll recognize a few of the Titans' new recruits during the year leading up to the DC Universe's "One Year Later" continuity, who were all revealed in last week's "Teen Titans" #38. Direct references and influences from the Teen Titans animated series in the actual Teen Titans comics have been nothing new (Beast Boy, Bumble Bee, and Mammoth's new costumes reflecting their animated versions, to name a few). But in issue #38, characters directly taken from the show are debuted: speedster twins Mas y Menos, and Hot Spot (presumably Joto, Hot Spot's original comic book influence, with a new name and powers). Even the issue's story arc title, "Titans Around the World", seems to reflect Season 5's global theme.

We've scanned #38's recruited Titans spread, so you can see for yourself:
- Pre-"One Year Later" Titans membership recruits (2 pg. spread)
- Mas y Menos photo close-up (looking much older than in the show)
- Hot Spot photo close-up

Will they (or others) be showing up in the DCU and Teen Titans' future? Probably, but only time will tell how.

Meanwhile, in the animated comic universe, "Teen Titans Go!" #34 came out last week as well. In a charity race between Kid Flash and Mas y Menos, many surprise cameos popped up, such as Argent vs. Punk Rocket, Bushido vs. Cheshire, the Doom Patrol, Jinx, and even "Terra". The race's announcers were even named Marv and George, in a nice nod to "The New Teen Titans" co-creators Marv Wolfman and George Perez! Fan candy aside, TTG #34 is a great read all around.

We've updated comic preview scans for all TTG issues up to #34, which you can view at our "Teen Titans Go!" guide (now broken up into sections for easy guide viewing). Picked up this issue? Sound off about it here at our forum!

In other "Teen Titans Go!" news, comic artist Sanford Greene may be the series' next regular cover artist, following Todd Nauck's cover art term. There's also a TTG issue coming up that he did interior artwork for, so keep on the lookout, because his stuff's pretty amazing. Thanks to TekNeko for the tip!
