TT production art from the Titans crew (also: Score session photos for Legion)
Posted by Butch on August 29, 2006 @ 10:35 pm EST - Link

Teen Titans character designer Brianne Drouhard recently put up a bunch of Teen Titans artwork she had done while on the show's production on her website. Very awesome things, as we've come to expect from the awesome Ms. Drouhard.

Newly added Titans artwork includes: a full-color Raven illustration (as seen in episode "Spellbound"), character model designs for the Titanimals (from episode "Bunny Raven"), Melvin, Kole, Bobby, and several gingerbread army men from "Mother Mae-Eye", photos of Robin as a baby, several Beast Boy transformations, miscellaneous doodles, and much more. Check them all out in the "Work" section of her Gallery page, and be sure to take a look at her other amazing artwork too!

Dynamic Music Partners (Michael McCuistion, Lolita Ritmanis, and Kristopher Carter), the music composers for Teen Titans, JLU, and many other DC Animated shows, recently added photos from their scoring sessions for the upcoming "Legion of Super Heroes" series to their photos gallery.

There are also photos from their presence at this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Be sure to view each photo up close for a description of what went on in each. And if you haven't given it a listen yet, you can find their "Trouble in Tokyo" Comic-Con bonus track (1.9 MB, mp3) for download in our Audio section.

September's all about Teen Titans! (more airings, Season 2 DVD moved up, GBA sequel)
Posted by Butch on August 22, 2006 @ 12:14 am EST - Link

September is shaping up to be quite large for the Titans, with pushes on the TV and merchandising fronts. Could they be saying something?

Ontop of showing the "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" movie twice (Sept. 15 & 16 at 7:30 PM), Cartoon Network will be ramping up its episode airings for the show. Starting Tuesday September 5th, Teen Titans will be shown twice every weekday, and a whopping five times on Saturdays! That's alot of Titans to catch. Comics Continuum has a rundown of the schedule for September here.

According to TVShowsOnDVD, the release date for the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD has been moved up to September 12th. That's a full two weeks earlier than WHV's first release announcement for the season set, and makes it coincide nicely with "Trouble in Tokyo", which premieres on Cartoon Network on the same week. Still no definite word on when the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD will be out, hopefully the early reports of a October 17th release date will stick.

Be sure to pre-order your copy of the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD! Every purchase made through this site helps keep us running.

One more thing to watch for on Sept. 12th (this all just fits, doesn't it?) is the Teen Titans sequel for the Gameboy Advance. "Teen Titans 2" from Majesco and A2M will be in stores on September 12th according to IGN, retailing for $29.99.

In their second GBA game, the Titans have been kidnapped by the Brotherhood of Evil. You'll start off as Robin, and eventually control the rest as they're freed. As usual, each Titan has several unique special attacks. Unlike the first game, you'll be able to combine attacks using multiple Titans, and even summon Titans East for help. What we really care about though, is the Brotherhood of Evil as the main villains this time! The Brain, Monsieur Mallah, and the rest will be in this, in full game-sprited glory.

If you haven't yet, you can pre-order the game from Amazon.com and help this site in the process. Majesco has an official page up for "Teen Titans 2" with game details and screens, and IGN has even more screens here.

With such a large amount of Titans activity next month, it looks as if fans may get an ultimate chance to show their support to the powers that be. If we want to see more Teen Titans, purchasing the Season 2 DVD and GBA game sequel, as well as tuning into the increased airings on Cartoon Network (and "Tokyo"!), should do the trick. Spread the word and show your support!

Dates & times for "Trouble in Tokyo" TV premiere! (also: Legion's Timberwolf interviewed)

Already an update on the TV premiere for the Teen Titans movie! "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" will have two airings on Cartoon Network, at the following dates & times (Eastern/Pacific) according to Comics Continuum:

TV premiere for "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo":
First Airing - Friday, September 15th at 7:30 PM
Second Airing - Saturday, September 16th at 7:30 PM

It's noted that CN schedules are always subject to change, so let's hope these dates/times stick. Comics Continuum also put up "Tokyo" trailer screens for those who missed it. We've uploaded the trailer for your viewing pleasure (since DCU: Yesterday, Today & Beyond's original link is currently inactive), which you can download here (9.04 MB, mpeg) to get yourself hyped up for the double airing of "Tokyo" next month!

In a second chat with a "Legion of Super Heroes" voice actor, Comics Continuum focuses on Shawn Harrison, who will be providing the voice for Legion member Timber Wolf. This continues their series of input from Legion's cast.

His role in the upcoming "Legion of Super Heroes" is his first attempt in animation, but he's appeared in TV sitcoms such as "Moesha", and "Family Matters" as Waldo Faldo. Shawn discusses Timberwolf and his origin, how his character will be introduced (in a Timberwolf-centric episode), his process for finding and developing the character's voice, and more. Great news! Seems the Teen Titans movie will air earlier than last reported! According to Cartoon Network promo bumps (shown during Teen Titans airings), the TV premiere of "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" airs this September! No exact dates & times yet, but looks like those who didn't see it at Comic-Con last month will get their chance in a few short weeks!

Thanks to TitansGo.net forum member Homestar14 for the heads up!

Comics Continuum has put up DVD menu screens for the "Teen Titans: The Complete Second Season" DVD, as well as a description for the "Catching up with...Teen Titans" extra feature. Other than that and a trailer for "Trouble in Tokyo", no additional Titans extras have been announced.

They've also reported that "The Complete Second Season" will be out September 16th (moved up from the 26th, as originally slated), with no DVD release date for "Trouble in Tokyo" yet.

Teen Titans character designer Derrick Wyatt posted his versions of the "Titans: Scissors, Paper, Stone" characters on his blog. "Scissors, Paper, Stone" stars a superteen group in the far flung future that tries to emulate the Teen Titans. Derrick recreates the team in his unique style, and adds that they were attempted to appear in the show itself: "Here are some Teen Titans designs I did for fun based on Adam Warren's "Titans: Scissors, Paper, Stone" comic. I had hoped at one point that we could use them in the show sometime. There was some discussion of it, but ultimately it didn't happen."

The team is: Captain Thug (Robin/brawler-type leader), Dead Pretty-Boy (a zombie based off Starfire), Witchie Poo (the mandatory Raven-like mystic), and Prosthetic Lass (a female Cyborg-type). To see Derrick's takes on these characters, click here. Be sure to leave him your thoughts!

In more Teen Titans art from the crew, director Michael Chang revisits the Titans through this great Red X vs. Robin drawing, after being off working with the characters since the end of the series' production. The rest of the main five Titans round out this piece. Click the link to check it out,and let Michael know what you think.

"Legion of Super Heroes" voice actor Michael Cornacchia (Bouncing Boy) offers some insight into his character and drops some hints of what's to come, in this Legion update from Comics Continuum. The Continuum also provides screenshots for a new "Legion" TV spot that ran yesterday on Kids' WB in promotion of the show's debut on September 23rd. Click here to check the feature out.

"Legion" voice actor interview (also: more from J. Torres on Wonder Girl's TTG debut!)
Posted by Butch on August 11, 2006 @ 12:43 am EST - Link

Kari Wahlgren, voice actor for recurring "Legion" member Saturn Girl (as well as supporting member Triplicate Girl), was briefly interviewed in what looks to be a series of input from Legion's main cast of characters.

Kari has performed an incredible number of roles in animation, videogames, and live-action, including the anime dub voices of Haruko from FLCL, and Fuu from Samurai Champloo. A long-time DCAU fan, she talks about her roles in "Legion of Super Heroes", Saturn Girl's character, her powers, a bit on Triplicate Girl, and more. Read the entire interview from Comics Continuum here.

TTG writer J. Torres talks more about the exciting debut of Wonder Girl in the upcoming "Teen Titans Go!" #36, the series' third-anniversary issue, in this interview from Comic Book Resources. J hints about the amazing amazon's additional appearances (as well as upcoming surprise appearances from other characters), how Wonder Girl (in this version, Donna Troy) will be handled, TTG's status after the show's cancellation, TTG's future and success, and more.

There's also an interesting bit from J, regarding TTG's continuity in relation to the show: "I'm attempting a little more 'continuity' between issues and stories," he said. "We still have the single-issue, stand-alone story mandate but I'm finding ways around that, if you will. I'm also trying to pick up on loose threads from the show and take certain subplots or characters in what I see as the logical progression from the show."

"Trouble in Tokyo" score session photos (and: Robin the Toy Wonder, "Terra" mini-series, & more)
Posted by Butch on August 6, 2006 @ 6:38 pm EST - Link

It's a real hodge podge of Titans news today, ranging from "Tokyo" to DC series to "The Batman". First up...

Dynamic Music Partners (Michael McCuistion, Lolita Ritmanis, and Kristopher Carter), the group who provides musical scores for many DC Animated series such as Teen Titans, have put up photos of their scoring sessions for Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" in their photo gallery. Check out Teen Titans producer Glen Murakami rocking out! The gallery also includes photos from scoring sessions for JLU, TT's "The Lost Episode", Batman Beyond, and more. View the photos gallery here.

This past Friday at the Wizard World Chicago event, Mattel's exhibit booth unveiled the addition of Robin to their "The Batman" action figure lineup. With the Boy Wonder joining the Dark Knight in the new upcoming season of "The Batman", new toys naturally weren't far behind. Comics Continuum has several photos of the Robin figure, and Dick (yes, it's him) is looking pretty good. Give them a look, and watch for Robin's debut (as well as Harley Quinn's and more!) on "The Batman" Season 4 this Fall!

JTorresOnline has "Teen Titans Go!" #33 pencilled panels by TTG artist Mike Norton as their latest site exclusive. The issue arrived just last week, and features the Titans battling it out on the baseball field (incidentally, YJ fans will remember TTG regular artist Todd Nauck's past series, "Young Justice", featured a similar story setup). Head on over and check Mike's original art out.

First announced at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks ago during the Amanda Conner spotlight panel, is an upcoming mini-series from DC Comics featuring everyone's favorite Titan traitor, Terra! This new series will focus on neither Terra I nor Terra II, but instead a third version of the geomancing character. The writers handling it will be Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, with Amanda Conner on art (and redesign for the new Terra). This development has a few of us pretty excited, be sure to watch for it!

Animated "Judas Contract"! (Warner's "DC Universe" line of original animated movies)
Posted by Butch on August 2, 2006 @ 5:40 pm EST - Link

After days of trekking through desert wastelands (yes, really), we're back! Convention reports and more will come shortly, but for now, one of several major announcements made at Comic-Con:

First revealed at last week's "DC: One Year Greater" panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Warner Home Video put out a press release detailing its plan to produce original animated movies for an older audience (PG-13), based on several milestone DC Comics stories. Each year, they'll produce 2 to 3 movies, with the first three being based on "DC: The New Frontier", "Death of Superman", and "The Judas Contract" (which Teen Titans Season 2's story arc was based on). Read the full press release at Newsarama.

"WHV will be the exclusive worldwide home entertainment distributor for all DC Universe movies which will include a slate of 2-3 action-packed films per year. To kick off this impressive venture, WHV, WBA and DC Comics are proud to announce the first three films to be released in late 2007/early 2008:

• Justice League: New Frontier - written by Stan Berkowitz (Justice League), with Darwyn Cooke serving as story and visual consultant
• Superman: Doomsday - produced by Bruce Timm and written by Duane Capizzi, from a story by Timm & Capizzi
• Teen Titans: The Judas Contract - written by Marv Wolfman and Tom DeSanto, produced by DeSanto"

Bruce Timm will act as supervising producer for each of these projects, which are not meant to be included in DCAU continuity (JLU, Teen Titans, etc.). The animated "The Judas Contract" will not feature character designs from the Teen Titans show, opting instead for designs closer to George Perez' Teen Titans work. George himself will also help with the animated adaption of "The Judas Contract".

During Comic-Con, Newsarama interviewed DC President Paul Levitz and "The New Teen Titans" co-creator Marv Wolfman about this upcoming "DC Universe" line of animated movies. Click below for the full interviews:

Stay tuned as news develops on this exciting announcement!
