Teen Titans crew on "Legion of Super Heroes" (also: The "Legion" is official!)
Posted by Butch on April 25, 2006 @ 6:14 am EST - Link

Since the series' cancellation, many of the Teen Titans crew moved onto other shows, including the upcoming Legion of Super Heroes. Yesterday, Kids' WB! (slated to merge into the new CW network this Fall 2006) made a press release, making the Legion series official!

excerpt: "Legion Of Super Heroes, 11:00-11:30 am: In the year of "Superman Returns" at Warner Bros., Kids' WB! is proud to present a new series developed especially for the "Too Big For Your TV" block by Warner Bros. Animation, inspired by the DC Comics legend. One thousand years from now, a group of teenage super heroes travel back in time to recruit the greatest hero of all, Superman, and enlist him their fight against evil in the 31st Century. While their intentions were good, their time travel skills were not, and Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Phantom Girl, Bouncing Boy and Timber Wolf end up going too far back into the past, accidentally retrieving the young Superboy instead."
(read the full release here from Toonzone)

The Legion Omnicom has already compiled a great amount of known Legion series info (staff, VAs, designs, etc.) gathered from various sources, here. The Teen Titans crew confirmed to be on Legion up til now are: Norm Ryang (prop designer), Rob Hoegee (story editor), and Eric Canete (background artist).

Well, we found four more for the "Titans crew on Legion" list. We've confirmed from reliable sources that: Amy Wolfram (story editor), Derrick Wyatt (character designer), Irineo Maramba (storyboarder), and Ben Jones (director) have joined their fellow Teen Titans crew on Legion of Super Heroes! Wil Wheaton (voice of Aqualad) also recently revealed he might be lending his voice to Legion, on account of former TT producer Linda Steiner, who'll be a Legion producer alongside James Tucker (JL, Batman Beyond). Hooray, the gang's all here...almost!

In related news, the Kids' WB! on CW press release also officially announces Robin joining the cast of The Batman. The Dynamic Duo is together again, for the "first" time!

Reason for TT console game delay
Posted by Butch on April 24, 2006 @ 4:52 pm EST - Link

First the Teen Titans console videogame was slated for a February release, then was pushed to March...then April. Now the game is slated for July 1st. What's up with all the delays? J. Torres, writer of "Teen Titans Go!", reveals why:

"Okay, fans, I just heard from a friend who worked on the production side of things for the Titans video game. I'm told that they (the studio) finished their work a while back and that the delay seems to be on the publishing or distribution end. Even their producer didn't know what the hold up is, but their guess is that the pwers that be may be waiting to release the game to coincide with other TT products. Or, my guess is that they're holding out for an event like the movie airing on CN or possibly even the San Diego Comicon where a lot of companies like to unveil/debut stuff. So, there you have it. Or not."

Hopefully, the current July 1st release date will be its last delay. Stay tuned.

Johane Matte, an artist for the Teen Titans game, adds:
"I learned that the game's release was being delayed again. Bizarre, as the work on our side is done. Some decision by the publisher then."

Johane also did a recent Control Freak drawing for a comics mag, which can be seen at her blog. There's a bunch of other Teen Titans art there (my favorite's the awesome DP-version Beast Boy), go check it out.

Bandai's TT game card inserts (also: Titans crew art - Robin vs. Speedy!)
Posted by Butch on April 20, 2006 @ 7:03 pm EST - Link

Bandai recently sent us card sheets for all 34 of their new Battle Communicator gamecards. Each card works with the Battle Communicator game to unlock features and character attacks. Not to be confused with Bandai's Teen Titans CCG.

View all the cards here:
- sheet 1: Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Robin's gadgets
- sheet 2: more BB, Raven, Starfire, Titans East
- sheet 3: Titans East, Slade, Mumbo, HIVE trio, Cinderblock, Blackfire
- sheet 4: Thunder & Lightning, Mad Mod, Plasmus

These have been available since the early 2006 toy lines, with 1 card inserted in every toypack (and 3 with every Battle Communicator). The Communicator game can be found at Ty's ToyBox and Amazon.

Teen Titans director Matt Youngberg put up a sweet looking Robin vs. Speedy shot from storyboards he did for "Winner Take All". It's from that scene where Robin lands the finishing blow on Speedy during their final round. Check it out at Matt's blog and let him know what you think!

That's gotta hurt.

Another load of "Things Change" storyboards coming at us, courtesy of Teen Titans director Michael Chang! He's posted 4 more storyboard sheets he had done for the Teen Titans series ender on his blog.

These latest storyboards continue the scene between Beast Boy and the "school girl", with some parts being cut out from the final, due to time restraints. Give them a look, and feel free to send Michael your thoughts.

Teen Titans director Ben Jones has recently put up several really neat Teen Titans drawings on his blog. Looks like we can expect to see some storyboards from him in the future, too!

Storyboards from episode "Things Change"!
Posted by Butch on April 9, 2006 @ 4:59 pm EST - Link

Teen Titans director Michael Chang recently posted several storyboard sheets he had done for the final episode of Teen Titans, "Things Change", on his blog! Storyboards are a most crucial part in determining how an episode will turn out, as they visually lay down the scenes and dialogue, general timing, and set the tones for the story along with many other things as cued by the episode's script.

The particular segment in Michael's storyboards is for one of Beast Boy's confrontations with the schoolgirl he believes to be Terra, one of several emotional scenes throughout the episode. And in case anyone's wondering, "Terra" is officially referred to as "schoolgirl" in them. Check them out, and let him know what you think.
