Got "Trouble in Tokyo"? Win our exclusive TT stuff! (also: 2nd Titans movie? & Help save TTG!) Posted by Butch on March 30, 2007 @ 10:39 am EST - Link
It's a mix of contests and big Titans news (for both the rumored second movie, and "Teen Titans Go!") today; here we go:
Contest time! Got the Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD? Great, because you're eligible for a special give-away we're holding for DVD owners, and there's exclusive Teen Titans stuff to be won. There will be Teen Titans press cards from major comic conventions, San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Teen Titans figures from Bandai, comic books, and a few cool surprises!
Contest Deadline: June 10th, 2007
How to enter: Send your name, and a scan or photo of your receipt (or other proof of purchase) for your "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD to contests@titansgo.net, and you'll be entered into a random drawing for the prizes. If you purchased the DVD online, a scan/photo of a digital proof of purchase is just as good (for your safety, make sure to not show personal info such as credit card numbers, etc.). After the deadline, we'll randomly pick several lucky winners to separate us from our special TT stuff. We promise not to cry.
"But, what if I..." - Tossed out your receipt? No problem. Snap a photo of yourself with your beloved "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD, and send it in!
- No scanner or digital camera? Email us asking for a mailing address to send a copy of your receipt or proof of purchase to.
- And finally...no "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD? How can that be? Buy it now! An important note - 2nd TT movie becoming a reality?: originally we planned the contest announced above to help boost "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD sales (well, that's still the reason) in order for Cartoon Network to get the message that fans want to see more Teen Titans. Well, at Wondercon 2007 earlier this month, it was briefly mentioned by DCAU veteran Bruce Timm that there may actually be another animated movie coming. This is not to be confused with the animated adaption of Teen Titans comic storyarc "The Judas Contract" that he is overseeing, and would hopefully be handled by the show's original crew. There is no solid confirmation yet (so it's still a rumor), but if Bruce Timm himself says something is going on, then it's a rumor that's getting pretty strong. Cross your fingers, everyone!
"Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres provided a 5 page preview for TTG #41, which already hit stores this Wednesday (click here to join discussion for this issue at our forums.). This one's huge, and includes not only Titans East as guests, but also Red Star, Jericho, Argent, and Wonder Girl! Not to mention cool gender-bending takes on familiar Titan villains ("Joy Stick" as Control Freak's female counterpart, anyone?).
If you haven't picked this issue up yet, that preview should get you interested. And it may be one of TTG's last, because...
Bad news: we learned from a source close to DC Comics that "Teen Titans Go!" may actually go under. This comes as a huge surprise, because TTG is actually the best selling all-ages series for DC Comics. It has done a great job of carrying on the cancelled show's adventures, as well as introducing many fans and kids alike to comics and the Titans. According to our source, the cut-off issue for "Teen Titans Go!" has yet to be finalized, but we're at least guaranteed up to the latest solicitation (TTG #44, which will feature Red Raven). However, the end may come sooner than you'd think. TTG writer J. Torres has hinted about his big plans for TTG's 50th issue mark, so having the series cut short before it would be a huge loss for everyone.
The best way to help save "Teen Titans Go!" is to contact DC Comics directly. Comic publishers tend to be open to what fans have to say, so sending letters to DC Comics will be a major help. As part of the effort, TitansTower's offered a couple ways to contact DC:
E-mail: askdcdirect@dccomics.com
Write letters to:
Dan DiDio
c/o DC COMICS
1700 Broadway NYC, NY 10019
In the past, comic series have been saved or at least granted extensions, due to letters and support from fans directed to comic publishers. We urge everyone to write in their support for "Teen Titans Go!" and to spread the word. TTG has alot in store for its near future; don't let it be cut short!
"Teen Titans Go!" #43 sneakpeek (also: one more "Tokyo" DVD Give-away winner & more) Posted by Butch on March 23, 2007 @ 6:05 pm EST - Link
"Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres has provided a five page sneakpeek (in black & white) for upcoming TTG issue #43, which arrives in stores on May 30th. The issue is drawn by main TTG artist Todd Nauck, and features Dr. Light and Psimon creating the villainous Fearsome Five team, together again for the first time!
Fans of the DCU Teen Titan comics will know that Dr. Light and Psimon have served as core leading members of the ever-changing Fearsome Five roster, and in this issue it appears they get to choose from villainous ranks which includes regulars, new characters from Teen Titans season five, and even TTG-specific villains. It's sure to be great stuff, so look for it this May. In the meantime, click that link to check out TTG #43's promising sneakpeek!
Post-contest update: a fourth winner has been added to our recent "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD Give-away. Our 1st place winner in fan-art opted for a Teen Titans Season 2 DVD instead, so our extra "Trouble in Tokyo" movie DVD goes to 1st runner-up compvenom, for his lovely entry "After Trouble in Tokyo"! Congratulations, compvenom; your prize is on the way!
Note: it may be coming late, but it'll be great: stay tuned next update for our contest specially made for owners of the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD!
And if you need a contest to fill that void while you wait, check out "Author Idol" over at the TitansGo.net Forums. It's a multi-round competition for Teen Titans fan-writers, and of course there are prizes. Its first deadline is April 13th; click the link for details.

This week, the world lost another major figure in the comics industry. Long-time comics writer Arnold Drake, born March 1st in 1924, passed away this Monday. Arnold wrote for a majority of DC characters, and created memorable fan-favorite superheroes such as Deadman, and the Doom Patrol (including Beast Boy). He was also an avid supporter of comic writers' rights and recognitions, and will be sorely missed.
Click here for Newsarama's report, as well as fellow comics writer Mark Evanier's biography for Arnold, which further remember his works and actions that made him an icon.
In a turn of positive news, Canada's Joe Shuster Award nominations for 2007 were revealed. And who should be in the running, but "Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres! He's being nominated for the title of "Outstanding Canadian Comic Book Writer", for his work on TTG, the "Ninja Scroll" mini-series, Degrassi, and more. Congratulations and good luck, J!

Our "Tokyo" DVD Give-away winners! (also: interesting "Teen Titans Go!" plans) Posted by Butch on March 10, 2007 @ 8:54 pm EST - Link
The votes are in, and we at last have our "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD Give-away winners! For voting, "Trouble in Tokyo" representation, creativity, age, and overall quality were considered. Two artists (TTFan13 & Jason Meador) both won the previous two contests, so we unfortunately had to disqualify their incredible entries this time around (sorry, guys!). We got alot of great entries, and these three topped our picks. Let's hear it for our finalists!
Congratulations! You'll be contacted soon about your prizes. Each of our winners will receive a "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" DVD, and Nancy Castro's movie review will be the newest addition to TitansGo.net's site Reviews section.
A big thanks to everyone who participated! As for those who've purchased the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD, get your receipts or proofs of purchase and stay tuned for an upcoming special contest in support of "Tokyo" sales and Teen Titans. No receipt or proof of payment? Buy the DVD! "Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres mentions a few interesting things on his blog, concerning his NY Comic Con trip:
"I talked Teen Titans Go with my favorite editor Tom Palmer, Jr. and we firmed up plans for upcoming issues including our big 50th anniversary. Additonally, we talked about which artists would be available for which upcoming stories, including ones involving Kilowatt, a certain member of the Justice League, Galfore and... Wildfire! It also looks like someone who worked on the TV series (and has a pretty big online following) might be helping us out with some art in a future issue, too."
"I also met with my favorite editor Jeanine Schaefer and artist extraordinaire Alex Serra about Legion of Super Heroes in the 31st Century. I told them about some of my new story ideas including one involving the Legionnaires meeting Thanagarians."
A Teen Titans show designer on "Teen Titans Go!", TTG #50, cool special guests, along with Thanagarians in the Legion animated comic? We can't wait to see what exciting things J's got planned! Click here for the entire blog entry.
"Tokyo" DVD Give-away entries are up! (and: "Tokyo" re-airing) Posted by Butch on March 3, 2007 @ 3:07 pm EST - Link
Hey everyone, here's a quick (though very late) update before I head off for Wondercon:
Since our last update, the Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD Give-away's deadline had passed (on February 20th). We will announce our winners soon, but for now, here is the gallery of contest entries we've been sent to from fans:
It'll be tough narrowing it down to just three winners, but we'll have our two top fan-artists and one top "Tokyo" movie reviewer announced next week. A big thanks to everyone who participated, for these great entries!
A bit of "Trouble in Tokyo" news: Cartoon Network will re-air the movie on Tuesday, March 20th at 7:00 PM (local time), according to Comics Continuum.
