Toyfare to reveal why Teen Titans was cancelled & what could have been
Posted by Butch on March 27, 2006 @ 4:37 pm EST - Link

Diamond's April '06 "Previews" issue (arrived in stores last week) reveals that Toyfare #108, which will be available in June '06, will feature an interview with Teen Titans producer Glen Murakami on the reasons for Teen Titans' cancellation. It will also reveal what would have happened in the series' future, had it not been cut short.

"Teen Titans & JLU: The Lost Episodes--Why were Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans cancelled? We go right to the source to find out why the shows ended and what would have been next for these two super-teams. Plus: what's taking their place?"

"What's taking their place" is undoubtedly Legion of Superheroes. Be sure to pick up Toyfare #108 this June for the interviews!

Character bios updated (also: Timm-verse Titans?)
Posted by Butch on March 22, 2006 @ 5:24 am EST - Link

The following character bios have been updated:

- See-More
- Private HIVE
- Gizmo

Visit our Characters guide for these and info on all other show characters.

World's Finest has updated their Justice League section with some interesting test footage, taken from the recently released Justice League: Season One DVD. Featured in unused intro animation are Robin, Impulse (Young Justice represent!), and "a female Cyborg-like character" (maybe an early Natasha Irons, aka. Steel IV?).

"These characters were included because originally the series was going to be a pitch to Kids WB! which would want the younger characters in the series. Provided below are images featuring the Justice Kids, as the rest of the footage was the same as seen above."

Click the link for screens of the kids in action (scroll down), and more info.

New character model sheets have been added to the Official Artwork gallery! We now have the model sheets for nuclear-powered Russian superhero Red Star, and catmasked heavy-weight wrestler Pantha.

- Red Star: model sheet
- Pantha: model sheet

For these and much more Teen Titans series production artwork, visit our Official Artwork gallery, which is regularly updated.

We have yet to choose winners for the signed "Complete First Season" DVD Give-away (a total of five CFS DVDs signed by the Teen Titans crew will be given out), but should be finished voting soon. In the meantime, here's significant news for those waiting:

- We've decided to add 2 more prizes: a TTG comic digest, and a Teen Titans toy
- An entries gallery for this DVD Give-away is now up

With so many great entries, it's hard to choose just 5 DVD winners and 2 runner-ups, but we will soon. Thanks for your patience, and thanks to everyone who participated in this give-away!

Adapting DC characters for Teen Titans (also: Tokyo DTV on Toonami & TTG digest update)
Posted by Butch on March 14, 2006 @ 5:55 pm EST - Link

Teen Titans director Ben Jones posted on our TitansGo.net forums about the Titans crew adapting DC Comics characters for the show. The crew had a few they wanted to use, but ended up making them new characters due to major changes from their comic book counterparts.

"Occasionally on Titans, we would start with a character from a DC comic and change him so much that DC would decide that it wasn't really that character anymore, and ask us to change the name. Some examples-"

Ben lists several character changes DC asked of them, and the originals they're based on. As a few may know, the crew even got to use one comic-original later on in Season 5: Psimon! The list includes Cinderblock (originally Blockbuster from "Batman"), Fang, and more.
Click here to read Ben's full post.

The X Bridge has some news on the Teen Titans Tokyo movie. Apparently, it will premiere on Toonami as part of a 2006 movie lineup.

On a related note, we've created a Teen Titans Tokyo page for the DTV.

DC Comics has announced "Teen Titans Go!" digest volumes 4 & 5 (titled: "Ready For Action" & "On the Move"), available July 12th. You can already pre-order em from Amazon via us here and here to support our site!

Titans crew convention sketches (and: TTG crew at Wizard World LA)
Posted by Butch on March 11, 2006 @ 8:43 pm EST - Link

Teen Titans character designer Derrick Wyatt recently posted some cute Terra sketches on his blog. Who could that green bat hanging around Terra possibly be? These were post-convention sketches from way back in 2004 for TitansGo.net's resident Terra-loving site staffers. Check them out! And thanks again, Derrick! Our precioussses...

"Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres states on his site JTorresOnline that he, along with main TTG artist Todd Nauck and TTG cover artist Sean Galloway, will be attending Wizard World Los Angeles from March 17th to 19th. If you're going, be sure to meet up with them. Click the Wizard World LA link for event details.

The fate of future Teen Titans projects?
Posted by Butch on March 8, 2006 @ 6:29 pm EST - Link

Newsarama recently interviewed Terry Kalagain, Cartoon Network VP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions, about her role and future CN acquisitions and releases. The Teen Titans Tokyo DTV is briefly mentioned. When asked if there'd be more movie projects, she had this to say:

"Again, I will never say never. My career is based on performance. If the Titans [Tokyo DTV] does great, I don’t see any reason not to go over and ask for another one."

There you have it, further proof that future Titans projects'll greatly depend on the DTV's sales. Keep writing letters of support to CN, support the series with DVD purchases, and prepare to show CN just how much fan power the Titans have when the Tokyo DTV finally hits stores in late Fall '06!

More Titans crew art! (also: TTG's Todd Nauck interviewed & JTO anniversary chat log)
Posted by Butch on March 7, 2006 @ 6:04 pm EST - Link

Teen Titans background designer Hakjoon Kang has posted an interior shot of Cyborg's brain, as seen in episode "Crash". Interestingly, Hakjoon designed Cyborg's interior circuitry scenes using simple 3D software tools, and pulled off a very cool look for the episode's backgrounds. Check it out.

Newsarama recently interviewed Todd Nauck, main artist for "Teen Titans Go!" (as well as "Young Justice" and "Wildguard"), about his comic book work. His experiences with working on TTG, "Young Justice", "Wildguard", and more are discussed, as well as his process and inspirations.

"Once I started Teen Titans Go!, I was initially drawn to Beast Boy. He was more light-hearted so the art allowed for a more playful approach. I could really exaggerate his gesture and movement."

For the full interview, click the link.

"Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres' site JTorresOnline held an online chat with the TTG crew in late January, in celebration of the site's anniversary. A transcript log of the chat event and interview with the comic's crew has been made, which you can read here:

- JTorresOnline anniversary chat & interview
