"Tokyo" DVD Give-away deadline is near! (and: Titans folks at WonderCon & NY Comic Con) Posted by Butch on February 18, 2007 @ 12:11 am EST - Link
Big reminder: There are only 3 days left until the February 20th deadline for our Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD Give-away, in which we award three fans with a copy of the Teen Titans movie on DVD!
To enter, send us your Teen Titans fan-art (preferrably "Trouble in Tokyo"-themed) and/or your "Trouble in Tokyo" movie review. You can either email your contest entries to contests@titansgo.net, or ask us for a mailing address to send your entry to (for those who lack a scanner, fax machine, or digital camera). Click here for full details on this DVD Give-away, and be sure to get your entry to us before the deadline! Thanks to everyone who has entered so far, and good luck!
Special note for those who've already purchased the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD: Hang onto your receipt or proof of payment! We may have a special contest for those who own the DVD coming up soon. No receipt or proof of payment? Buy the DVD! Convention season has started, and this year's WonderCon in San Francisco will have a few events Titans fans will find interesting. In particular: DC, WB Animation, and WHV will host a panel on adapting the DC Universe to animated direct-to-video DVDs, and even screen part of Superman: Doomsday (based on the "Death of Superman" comic arc)! Since Superman: Doomsday, DC: New Frontier, and Teen Titans: The Judas Contract are the first three in the big DCU animated plan, there will surely be early details on the much anticipated Teen Titans animated adaption. Last but definitely not least, classic 60s Teen Titans artist Nick Cardy will have a spotlight panel as a special guest, and Teen Titans show writer Adam Beechen will be in an animation production panel with other DCAU writers (Stan Berkowitz and Dwayne McDuffie!).
Here's the schedule and locations for these events:
Saturday, March 3rd 2007 - Moscone Center South - Spotlight on Nick Cardy @ 10:30 - 11:30 AM (Room 220)
- The Animation Production Process @ 3:00 - 4:00 PM (Room 236)
- DC Universe: Super Heroes Go DVD @ 5:45 - 6:45 PM (Esplanade Ballroom)
WonderCon in San Francisco will be in the Moscone Center, from March 2nd to 4th; click here for the convention's official site. Hope to see you there!
In east coast con news, "Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres notes on his site JTorresOnline that he'll be at the NY Comic Con this year, signing at the DC Comics and Oni Press booths. Others from the TTG crew, artists Sanford Greene and Khary Randolph, will be attending as industry pros as well, along with Teen Titans storyboard artist Eric Canete. "The New Teen Titans" artist and co-creator George Perez will be a special guest (with a spotlight panel Friday 23rd @ 4:30 to 5:30 PM) too, making this convention a must-attend.
New York Comic Con takes place at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC next weekend, February 23rd to 25th; click here for the event's site. Tickets are going very fast, so order now if you plan to attend!
Save Titans, Buy "Tokyo"! (also: George Perez's take on animated Titans & more) Posted by Butch on February 11, 2007 @ 11:43 pm EST - Link
As you may know, the Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD released this week. Finally, fans can enjoy the movie in its full splendor as well as the half-length "The Lost Episode" bonus feature (previously limited and online-only) at their leisure.
Due to the strong possibility that successful DVD sales for "Trouble in Tokyo" will mean more Teen Titans animated projects in the works, we highly urge any and all Titans fans to buy the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD! For those who have, ordering an extra copy or two would be a great way to introduce family and friends to the show, ontop of boosting Tokyo's sales and the big chance to see more Titans.
This isn't a marketing ploy; last year before Tokyo made its TV debut, a Cartoon Network representative and several members of the Teen Titans crew have stated on several occasions that the chance for another Teen Titans animated movie relies primarily on how well "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD sales go. After months of fans writing in and supporting merchandise to save the show without knowing of the effort's progress, we are now given a clear direction. Let's show Cartoon Network that the demand for more Titans is strong: buy the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD, get everyone you know into the push, and help spread the word!
Teen Titans color artist Chris Hooten recently put up his blog! So far, he's added some examples of his color work, including the cover of "Teen Titans Go!" #36 (drawn by producer Glen Murakami, for TTG's 3rd anniversary issue debuting Wonder Girl), various episode shots, and the infamous and awesomely designed Teen Titans Season 5 promo piece drawn by Glen Murakami for San Diego Comic-Con 2005. Head on over and give Chris a wave!
George-Perez.com updates on a slew of commissioned art pieces done by '80s Teen Titans co-creator and artist George Perez. Two in particular are of Beast Boy and Starfire in their animated series forms, done for the requester's son and daughter. To get a commissioned piece from the great (and incredibly busy) Perez is rare enough, so being able to see his take on the animated versions of two characters he and Titans writer Marv Wolfman co-created is a real treat; check them out!
New seasons for The Batman & Legion (and: Adam Beechen writing DCU Titans) Posted by Butch on February 4, 2007 @ 10:37 pm EST - Link
With "The Batman" season 4 in full swing (yesterday's new episode featured Nightwing and Oracle, no less) and filled with nods to continuity, it comes as a very pleasant surprise that a 5th season will soon be announced, according to Comics Continuum. Current season 4 features many major additions such as Robin, Harley, a shift to a futuristic "Dark Knight Returns"-ish setting mid-season, and more. It will be interesting to see how it all continues in the new season.
Comics Continuum also adds that "Legion of Super Heroes" will also be renewed for another season. With both Legion and The Batman being brought back to life, the absence of similar news for Teen Titans is sorely obvious. At this point, we urge all fans to support the upcoming "Trouble in Tokyo" movie DVD release (coming up in a mere 2 days) as much as possible, as well as the Titans' other merchandise and TV airtimes. Let's show the CN powers-that-be that Teen Titans is far from being forgotten.
Teen Titans animated series writer Adam Beechen (Mad Mod, Haunted) is no stranger to writing for DC Comics, as he's been the main writer for both "Justice League Unlimited" (the show's comic counterpart) and "Robin". It just so happens that DCU's current Teen Titans series' writer Geoff Johns recently announced on Newsarama that he's stepping down, and that Adam will take his place as the title's main writer! The two have co-written issue #46 (last part for the current "Titans East" arc), due out on April 11th according to DC's solicits. Adam will take over right after, starting with issue #47 (out in May).
Newsarama interviewed Adam Beechen about this shift; Adam talks about how he got the , what his plans are, the relations between the comic and the animated series, his views on the Titans, and more. He even adds that he hopes to give Control Freak an appearance. The transition is shaping up to be an interesting one. Congrats to Adam on this and all his endeavors!
