A bunch of "Teen Titans Go!" sneak peeks Posted by Butch on December 24, 2006 @ 2:41 am EST - Link
Happy Holidays, everyone! Take a break from pre-festivities plans for a bit to kick back with these TTG sneak peeks:
"Teen Titans Go!" #38 comes out next week (December 27th), and features indy comic creator Chynna Clugston ("Blue Monday", "Queen Bee") as a guest artist. The JTorresOnline forum had posted this sneak peek page for the upcoming issue.
TTG writer J. Torres described the story in our past interview: "I wrote that script over a year ago but I wanted a specific artist, Chynna Clugston, to draw it and was willing to wait until she was free. The thing is, the story is a homage to one of my all-time favorite movies "A Hard Day's Night." It's also a fave of Chynna's and if you know anything about her, you know she's the mod queen. So, this was a perfect fit."
Looks like Beatles fans will have something to look forward to in TTG #38, which is out in stores in four days.
JTorresOnline has provided even more "Teen Titans Go!" behind-the-scenes material: TTG artist Todd Nauck's original pencilled pages for not one, but two issues!
TTG #20 featured Atlas trapping Starfire and Raven in a videogame and even included a "cameo" by Terra and others, while TTG #21 had Professor Chang turning Beast Boy into a Godzilla-like monster, complete with a good old fashioned rampaging through town and even a battle between BB and the Voltron-esque "Titans Go-Bot 5". Click the links above to check out a whopping ten pencilled pages from both issues TTG #20 and TTG #21 drawn by Todd.
Glen Murakami interviewed (also: Todd Nauck interview & TTG'ed Young Justice) Posted by Butch on December 21, 2006 @ 12:03 am EST - Link
TitansTower.com has posted an extensiveinterview with Glen Murakami, producer of Teen Titans. The interview goes into many behind-the-scenes details including the show's early development , what went on during production for each of its five seasons, as well as what was planned for Teen Titans' Season 6 and beyond! Also throughout the interview is a slew of great production art and designs by Glen Murakami himself and others on the crew, including early designs for the main five Titans. The interview is an absolute must-read, click here to check it out!
cIndyCenter gave us a heads up about their recent Todd Nauck podcast interview (23.9 MB file in mp3 format; 24 minutes). Todd talks about his comics work on "Teen Titans Go!", "Young Justice", and his own superhero-reality-show series "Wildguard"...there's even a shout-out from a Mr. Glen Murakami too. All questions in the interview were submitted through cIndyCenter's forums, so it's interesting to hear what Todd has to say in reaction to...well, fan reaction. Give it a listen; download the podcast by clicking here.
The gang's nearly all here! "Teen Titans Go!" artist Todd Nauck gave two more DC characters a new look, TTG style: Impulse and Arrowette from "Young Justice"! In addition to Todd's animated renditions of Superboy and Secret, this makes a nice revisit to the kids of YJ, a beloved superteen series which Todd was the main artist for. Rob Hoegee chat Q&A summary up (and: Season 3 DVD cover & info; pre-order "Tokyo" DVD!) Posted by Butch on December 14, 2006 @ 1:45 am EST - Link
For those who missed it, a Q&A summary for last month's live-chat with Teen Titans story editor Rob Hoegee has been added to the Interviews section. It includes details on the original plans for Season 5, what Season 6 would've been like, plans for Slade to take over the Brotherhood, and much more...all in a simple-to-read format. Enjoy!
Also, good news for those who posted their questions for Rob on our forum but didn't get them answered during the live-chat due to time constraints: in infinite kindness, he has offered to answer each of them separately! When completed, this post-event Q&A will be provided here and in our forums. Thanks again, Rob!
Great news from TVShowsOnDVD.com: Details and cover art for the "Teen Titans: The Complete Third Season" DVD have been released! TVShowsonDVD.com has provided release info for the third season set, as well as its front and back cover designs. Beast Boy is this DVD's poster-Titan, instead of Cyborg (who Season 3's storyarc is centered on). Ironic, since Season 2's DVD featured Cy (instead of BB, who was focused on most in the titular season's arc).
The Season 3 DVD has a release date of April 10th, 2007, features all 13 episodes on 2 discs, and will retail for $19.98. So far, the back cover only reveals one bonus feature: "Teen Titans: Know Your Foes". Click here for the DVD's boxart and released info on our DVD page.
In another bit of DVD news, Amazon now has the "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" DVD up for pre-orders! As usual, they've reduced the price from retail to $13.99 and have it open to free shipping.
Time and again, it's been affirmed by the Titans crew as well as WHV representatives that the chance for more Teen Titans depends solely on the sales success of "Trouble in Tokyo". High ratings for Tokyo's airings may show that there is still much interest, but high sales for its DVD will show that there is enough reason for new Titans projects to be made. Want to see what the Titans crew had planned for that second movie? Now's our chance to show the powers-that-be just how much demand there is for it, and more new Teen Titans projects.
Click here to pre-order "Trouble in Tokyo"; every purchase made through our site does its bit to keep it going. Thanks to everyone for their support, now let's all do our part to keep the Titans alive!
"Tokyo" heads for Canada! (also: Wizard mag on "Judas Contract" DTV, and Cyborg "appears" in Legion) Posted by Butch on December 10, 2006 @ 11:10 pm EST - Link
Finally! The Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" movie is at last scheduled for Canadian fans! ToonZone has a press release from Corus Kids Television, which details their January 2007 programming plans for YTV. "Trouble in Tokyo" is in the line-up, and will air on Saturday, January 27th at 10:00 am on YTV:
TEEN TITANS: TROUBLE IN TOKYO: On Saturday, January 27 CRUNCH is host to a brand new movie, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo. When a high-tech ninja attacks, the Teen Titans spring into action! Robin finds out the ninja was sent by a mysterious and menacing Japanese criminal known as Brushogun, and the Teen Titans travel to Tokyo to track the villain down and serve justice. Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo premieres Saturday, January 27 at 10 a.m.
Click here for Corus' January '07 press release, which lists a trove of other movies, specials, and series premieres.
George-Perez.com posted an excerpt from Wizard magazine's "Wizard 2007 Movie Spectacular" issue (released earlier this week), that touches on the upcoming Teen Titans "The Judas Contract" animated DTV to be released next year as a joint effort between DC and Warner Bros. Unfortunately, the article doesn't contain any new info on the project, but provides a good rundown. Click the link below to read the excerpt from Wizard:
To rebrief on this new project (and to rid confusion), this DTV release will be an adaption of the classic Teen Titans comic story of the same name, by "The New Teen Titans" co-creators Marv Wolfman and George Perez. For those unfamiliar with "The Judas Contract", it is a milestone NTT story arc in which Deathstroke (Slade Wilson) sends Terra to infiltrate the Titans as part of his plot to destroy them from the inside. While the Teen Titans animated series adapted the story for Season 2, this new DTV is not related to the show in any way aside from the basic story.
We'll soon see Cyborg, at least in spirit, showing up in "Legion of Super Heroes". Kids' WB has been airing promo spots for a new Legion episode, titled "Lightning Storm", which is unscheduled but most likely airing later this month. This episode will feature the Legion of Super Villains team, which includes founder Lightning Lord (Lightning Lad's evil brother) and Tyr, a character voiced by Khary Payton (Cyborg from Teen Titans, of course).
An interesting thing to note about Tyr's character is that he has a large gun in place of one of his arms. How's that for another nod to Cyborg? Comics Continuum has screenshots from the "Lightning Storm" promo clip, click here to check em out.
TTG/SparkTop bonus comic scanned & up (also: TGN Secret Santa game!) Posted by Butch on December 4, 2006 @ 3:46 pm EST - Link
As with all of DC's "Johnny DC" kids line comics for November, "Teen Titans Go!" #37 included a special 6-page Teen Titans comic as a bonus insert. Written by Marc Sumerak and drawn by TTG regular artist Todd Nauck, the story features the Titans teaming up with Sara Hunter, a dyslexic girl on a mission to save her father. This bonus comic is part of an effort by Schwab Learning to promote child education.
There's also a 4-page followup story on Schwab site SparkTop.org, which features Sara and Beast Boy on a treasure hunt, and seems to be leading into a mini-series. It's drawn by TTG's Todd Nauck as well; go check it out!
