Comics update & Wondy II in TTG! (also: Give-away deadline over; TTG #51 in stores; JTO forums gone) Posted by Butch on January 24, 2008 @ 11:57 pm EST - Link
DC Comics released their April 2008 comic solicits this week, which include "Teen Titans Go!" #54, "Teen Titans: Year One #4, "Tiny Titans" #3, "DC Special: Raven" #2, and last but not least, the debut of "Titans" #1 (effectively reuniting the good old Wolfman/Perez Titans team). Click below for covers and details and on each:
"Teen Titans Go!" #54 will star Cassandra Sandsmark (aka. the second Wonder Girl)! So will animated series version Wonder Girl go by just Donna or Troia in TTG now? How do two Wonder Girls in the same room work, anywhen? At any rate, seeing the old Cassie Sandsmark we knew and loved from her early days, TTG-styled even, is a very nice surprise. Todd's deviation from his original Young Justice design is great; right down to her Amazonian gifts (check out the winged sandals of Hermes) and "newbie superhero" home-made costume. Another TTG issue we want to have now.
The new "Titans" series also debuts in April, reuniting the dynamic that the animated series based its core team on. Though we'd rather see Marv and George working on their original team again, writer Judd Winick and artists Ian Churchill and Norm Rapmund are handling this one. All in all, April looks to be another incredible month!
Despite release mix-ups slating it for last week, the wait is over: "Teen Titans Go!" #51 (starring Terra's origin and her brother Geo-Force!) came out yesterday! What's more, TTG writer J. Torres updated his last blog entry (#51's cover sketch) with a full look at the cover art's creation process in three stages of design. Newly added are inker Lary Stucker's clean-up of Todd's original sketch, and the colored finish by colorist Kanilla Trip.
For anyone who's still not convinced on getting this issue, J has also provided five preview pages for your enjoyment.
Stop by your local comic shop and pick up TTG #51 for Terra's origin story (and much more), never before revealed! At least, in animated continuity. Already read it? Head to our forums and join us in some TTG #51 discussion.
The Teen Titans Season 4 DVD Give-away contest is now closed, and we will no longer be accepting entries. A huge thanks to all of you who entered, looking at everyone's creations has been a blast.
We will begin judging to determine the winners of our three "Teen Titans: The Complete Fourth Season" DVD sets, so sit tight. In the meantime, stay tuned for a gallery featuring every entry we received. Thanks again for another great DVD Give-away, everyone!
For full contest details, click here.
This week, "Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres shut down his official site forum. A message was sent to all members, saying the decision was due to lower participation following the cancellation of the animated series, as well as personal time constraints (including a newborn addition to the Torres household. Congrats!). J encourages fans to keep in touch with him through his blog, his ComicBloc forum section, and the TTG section on our own TitansGo.net forums.
He also adds that the closing isn't an end, so much as a moving on period, and that he also has exciting things planned this year with DC Comics. Despite the reasons, we're sad to see J's closely knit community boards go, with its fun discussions and insights into TTG and J's other books. On the other hand, we're excited to see those "exciting things" he's planned up, and wish him even more success in the future. Cheers and thanks to J and the rest of TTG's crew!

"Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres has put up the original sketch for TTG #51's cover, as drawn by TTG artists Todd Nauck and Lary Stucker. TTG #51 is the long, long-awaited issue featuring Terra's origin (TTG style, of course) and the comic series' debut of her geomancer brother, Geo-Force!
Note: Even though DC Comics' solicits stated this issue would release this week, "Teen Titans Go!" #51 will actually be released next week, on January 23rd, 2008. TTG #51 has alot of promise, so don't miss picking it up.
In a press release this month, Corus Kids TV stated that YTV will re-air the "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" movie on Saturday, Friday 23rd @ 4:00 PM for Canadian audiences. Click here for the full press release from Toon Zone.
JLU and Static Shock veteran writer Dwayne McDuffie will bring his writing skills to TT producer Glen Murakami's crew for "Ben 10: Hero Generation", the upcoming revamp for the current "Ben 10" series. The writer briefly mentioned this new series during an interview with Comic Book Resources. According to Dwayne, "Ben 10: Hero Generation" is set five years later in the current show's future. He adds: "It's pretty much unlike anything people have ever seen." What else would one expect from the awesome producer who gave us the animated Teen Titans series?
Ben10Toys.net has more info on Glen's revamp of the "Ben 10" series (under another possible name for it, "Alien Force").

At last, "Teen Titans: Year One" #1 hits stores this Friday, January 4th! The issue kicks off the long awaited 6-issue mini-series by Amy Wolfram (animated TT story editor) and artist Karl Kerschl, about the beginnings of the first Teen Titans team, the "Fab Five". Scripted by one of the animated Teen Titans series' story editors (with episodes like "Things Change", "The End", and "Aftershock" under her belt), and drawn by an artist who's prepared an awesomely unique and expressive look for the Titans, "Teen Titans: Year One" promises to be a definitive new start for Robin, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, Aqualad, and Speedy.
Newsarama has provided a five page preview for issue #1 (scroll down a bit), featuring Robin and Batman in the Batcave, and Kid Flash being his awesome self. He's even hip to the times, too. Note the IMs and his Nintendo DS. Amy and Karl weren't kidding when they said they were giving the Five a modern spin. Check those pages out and pick up "Teen Titans: Year One" #1 this Friday!
