We're giving away 3 Teen Titans "Trouble in Tokyo" movie DVDs!
Posted by Butch on January 27, 2007 @ 12:52 am EST - Link

It's that time again: time to win some Teen Titans DVDs! We're giving away three "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo" DVDs (the DVD hits stores February 6th!), and this time we're changing things up from our past Give-aways. Two DVDs will be awarded to our top Teen Titans fan-artists as usual, but the third DVD will go to a fan who can write up the best movie review for "Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo". Ontop of that, the movie review will be displayed in TitansGo.net's reviews section.

Two ways to enter:
1. Email your Teen Titans fan-art or "Trouble in Tokyo" review to contests@titansgo.net, or...
2. No fax machine, scanner or digital camera? Ask us for a mailing address to send your fan-art and/or movie review entry to. We can't return originals, so be sure to send a copy if you don't want to lose it. (xerox, photo, etc.)
note: You may enter both Teen Titans fan-art and a "Trouble in Tokyo" review, but only one entry will be considered per person. Also, bonus points if your fan-art is "Trouble in Tokyo"-themed!

The "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD Give-away begins now, and will end on February 20th at 11:59 PM EST/PST, giving you all about 3 weeks to send in your Teen Titans fan-art and/or "Tokyo" reviews. After winners are picked, we'll display them along with every entry we receive. Looking forward to awesome results from everyone. Good luck!

(If you haven't yet, support the Titans by pre-ordering the "Trouble in Tokyo" DVD!)

In other "Tokyo" news, TV Guide shows an additional airing of the movie on Cartoon Network, for a total of two in early February:

- Sunday, February 4th at 9:00 AM (local time)
- Monday, February 5th @ 4:00 PM (local time)

Canadian fans, don't forget YTV's also premiering "Tokyo" tomorrow, Saturday at 10:00 AM!

Background art for "Titan Rising" (also: Canada's "Trouble in Tokyo" premiere)

Teen Titans background designer Hakjoon Kang is at it again! He recently added a cut-away view of Titans Tower and its underground to his blog. This amazingly detailed cut-away was done for episode "Titan Rising", specifically for the scene where the Tower sinks into the ground after a final attack from Slade's huge robotic worms. The design also includes the familiar area that held as a battleground for Slade and Robin, as well as Raven and Terra's struggle for control.

Hakjoon states: "My job as the designer was to make this technological feat look at least passably possible. To cover the enormous space involved I drew this cutaway view, which does tweak the scale a little to keep it manageable for the storyboard artists to stage." He adds that the intended effect didn't translate across well during the episode's overseas animation production, resulting in the lack of the sinking's cut-away effect. A big reminder for Canadian Titans fans: YTV Canada will be premiering the Teen Titans movie "Trouble in Tokyo" next week, on Saturday, January 27th at 10:00 AM local time. With the huge wait nearly over, Canada will finally be able to view the movie on the small-screen.

In related news for the US, Cartoon Network will re-air "Trouble in Tokyo" on Saturday, February 4th at 9:00 AM, a mere two days before the movie's release to DVD. Don't forget to pre-order the DVD to support the movie and development of new Titans projects!

"Legion" animated comic is now official! (also: "Teen Titans Go!" #42 solicited)
Posted by Butch on January 17, 2007 @ 12:44 am EST - Link

DC Comics released its full April '07 solicitations, and with the animated "Legion" comic included in the list, the show-based title's set for takeoff. Titled "The Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century", issue #1 comes out April 18th, 2007 and features a different take on the show's first episode. "Teen Titans Go!" writer J. Torres will be a writer, with TTG guest artists Chynna Clugston and Sanford Greene confirmed for issue #1 and #2 respectively. Congrats to J and the crew, it's finally official!

In an interview with Newsarama, TTG (and now "Legion" comic) writer J. Torres discusses the "Legion" animated comic. He talks about how he came to write for the comic, how it will relate to the show in terms of story and reader level, plans for his stories (adding that he'd love to do a "Legion"/"Teen Titans Go!" crossover if possible!), and more. Included in the interview are a few comic preview pages. Click the link for the full feature.

Also included in DC's April '07 solicits is "Teen Titans Go!" #42, which will feature Raven losing control over her "emoticlones" (as first seen in episode "Nevermore").

From our live-chat with J. Torres last October, J mentioned that Jericho would appear in this issue and "interact" with Raven's emoticlones. Whether or not this will be more than a nod to Raven and Jericho's comic book relationship remains to be seen when TTG #42 hits stores on April 25th, 2007.

Production scenes from Teen Titans (also: Smallville's "Justice" update)

Teen Titans background designer Hakjoon Kang has added several more memorable scene designs to his blog. First up is planet Tamaran's royal palace, as seen in episode "Betrothed". Hakjoon discusses the thoughts, direction, and influences that went into its design:

- Tamaranian Palace design (episode "Betrothed")

Next is the entire length of the cruise ship from "Date With Destiny", upon which much of the episode's action took place. Hakjoon goes into the influences that shaped its design as a nod to fellow Teen Titans artist, storyboarder Chap Yaep ("Episode 257-494", "Things Change") and his wife, and adds that the ship is named the "S.S. Youngberg" in reference to TT storyboarder and director Matt Youngberg ("Lost Episode", "Trouble in Tokyo"):

- Prom cruise ship design (episode "Date With Destiny")

In other news, Comics Continuum reports that the CW network confirms Smallville's version of Bart Allen to be called "Impulse" (instead of the expected Flash name) in the new episode "Justice"! If the rumored Justice League live-action show ever comes true, hopefully Young Justice action won't be far behind! Remember to catch Cyborg, Impulse, and the rest in Smallville's new episode "Justice", airing Thursday, January 18th on the CW network.
