TT live-action movie update (also: TT crew on new Batman show!; TTG artist appearance & more)

This week, ComicMix.com interviewed Mark Verheiden about his Teen Titans live-action movie. Still in progress, Mark had sent Warner Bros a script draft right before the big writer's guild strike. Fortunately, he's continuing the project where he left off, with a revised draft in the works. The writer discusses his inspirations and intentions for the live-action Teen Titans, adding that "there will be a Nightwing story and Robin is in it, too". He also adds that the Titans won't be young adults in this movie, but actual teens.

Mark Verheiden: "There’s a lot of ways to go with this, but my "take," if you want to call it that, is to try and make them as real as possible given the circumstances. Possibly a little bit more of a heightened realism in this, much like they’ve done in the comic recently. The trick is to find a balance between the realism of how they can work in this world so you can connect with them and they feel real to you, and then the fact they have powers, or most of them do, they have fun and do what they do. We’re not going to make it grim and gritty or anything, but it will have great jeopardy, action and conflict. The bottom line is, we’re going to try and have some fun with it, which is the best way to describe it."

In Cartoon Network's big upfront press event for 2008 today, the company announced a new show that'd been sparsely mentioned until now: "Batman: The Brave and the Bold"! This new animated Batman series will premiere this fall 2008 as part of a new Friday night action block.

So why is this interesting for animated Titans fans? Several crew members from Teen Titans will help produce the show, including: directors Ben Jones and Michael Chang, exec producer Sam Register, and producer Linda M. Steiner! So despite the very "Super Friends" look of the "Brave and the Bold" character designs, having them behind it already makes it sound promising. Besides, how neat is it to see an animated version of Jaime Reyes (the current Blue Beetle and part-time Teen Titan)? Maybe there'll be room for some cartoon Titans after all!

"Teen Titans Go!" guest artist Joe Quinones will be a special guest at the Boston Comic Book Spectacular, which will take place on Sunday, April 13th @ 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The event will be held at the 6th floor of the Boston Radisson Hotel. A Boston local artist, Joe provided the art for TTG #53's Beast Boy/Doom Patrol story. If you're in the area, swing by to say hello and check out his work. Click here for full details on the event. Thanks to "wanolan" for letting us know!

Joe also put up some new Teen Titans drawings on his blog, of Beast Boy and Robin. They're pretty slick, check em out!
