Moment of silence, please (and some Titans East news)

What a way to end a week. I logged into my email and was notified that esteemed comic writer Bob Haney had passed away recently. So let's belatedly bow those heads, and pay some respect.

For a detailed writeup regarding Haney's passing, Newsarama reports:

"Haney was one of the great Silver Age comics writers, landing at DC in the mid-50s, where he soon came to write virtually every comic DC published at one time or another. Haney was the co-creator of the original Teen Titans, Metamorpho, Eclipso, Doom Patrol, and an array of other characters, including Sgt. Rock. Together with other writers of the era, Haney tried unsuccessfully to unionize talent at DC in the late '60s."

In the full article, Newsarama links to an obituary for Bob Haney written by Mark Evanier. The obituary can be read here: "Bob Haney, R.I.P."

What Haney has given to the world of comics is definitely much. Not only did he co-create the original Silver Age Teen Titans group and laid down the groundwork for all Titans things to come, but he was a great contributor to the comics industry as a whole. I've never been great at paying respects, especially in written word, so I'll just end by saying "Rest in peace" Mr. Haney, and thanks.

On another note, regarding Season 3. Marv Wolfman states that he has written an upcoming episode that introduces new group Titans East.

"I love the show and what David and Glen have done with it. And speaking of the show, my next episode introducing Titans East should be coming up in early January. Look for it."

Stay tuned for the remainder of Season 3 and beginning of Season 4, due to start airing on January 8th.
