Short summary: With Titans dispatched across the globe, members of the Hive Five figure they have it made. Unfortunately their city-wide crime spree is cut short when a new hero in town spoils the fun. Handing him over to the Brotherhood of Evil may score the Hive Five points, but actually catching this lightning-fast do-gooder is much harder than it seems.

» This series' version of Kid Flash is voiced by Michael Rosenbaum, who was the voice of Wally West/Flash in the animated Justice League (as well as the actor for Lex Luthor of the Smallville tv series). This lends more to the fact that this animated version of the character is none other than Wally West, identity of the original Kid Flash.
» Kid Flash's comment about how the "Hive Five" team name doesn't add up (because there are really six of them) is reminiscent of the frequent change of members the "Fearsome Five" team underwent in DC comic series. The "Fearsome Five" similarly included core members Jinx, Mammoth, and Gizmo...as well as Psimon, Dr. Light, and others.

» Several Titans can be seen on-screen at the Hive Five hideout, including new heros Argent, Kilowatt, and Red Star.

» This episode marks the first series appearance of Kid Flash, who was a member of the very first incarnation of the Teen Titans team in the 1960s comic series. That first group was otherwise known as the "Fab Five" (Robin, Speedy, Kid Flash, Wonder Girl, and Aqualad).
» This episode also marks Kid Wykkyd's debut as a character! Kid Wykkyd along with Billy Numerous, See-More, and others were first spotted at the HIVE Academy in "Deception", and have since had a chance to shine in various episodes of Season 5.
» Watch for it: at the end of this episode's regular introduction sequence, the Hive Five pop up and proclaim the show now belongs to them. Leader Jinx even spraypaints their group emblem on the screen!
» "Lightspeed" is the first Teen Titans episode to tell its story from the villains' points of view. This gives a whole new perspective to the episode, including how the HIVE Five (especially Jinx) sees Kid Flash, the antagonist.
